Caroline Conrad, DVM

Emergency Medicine

Dr. Caroline (Carly) Conrad is a native of northern Georgia.  She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2008 with a B.S.A. in Biological Sciences and a minor in Genetics with an emphasis on evolution. Dr. Conrad has worked in the veterinary field since high school.  During her undergraduate studies, she branched out to work in various research fields of animal science while also working at in veterinary hospitals.  While exploring different areas of interest during college, Dr. Conrad chose to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

In 2009 Dr. Conrad was accepted to Louisiana State School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, LA, graduating in 2013.  While in veterinary school, she worked as an overnight veterinary technician in both the small and large animal emergency medicine departments, along with working in a parasitology research lab.  After graduating she completed a rotating small animal internship with emphasis on emergency and critical care at Regional Veterinary Referral Center in Springfield, VA.  During this time Dr. Conrad developed a strong interest in emergency medicine, especially trauma, feline medicine, and parasitology in emergency situations.

After completing her internship in 2014, Dr. Conrad began working at an emergency clinic south of Birmingham, AL.  

Dr. Conrad has always loved the Charleston area and was extremely happy to accept a position with Charleston Veterinary Referral Center.  “Emergency medicine is my passion.  I love the challenges that come with the variety of cases and educating pet owners through those stressful and difficult times. “  Dr. Conrad explains, “I think the team environment that CVRC has with the board certified specialists and the emergency department gives us amazing opportunities provide the very best care for our patients and further our knowledge and skills.”

Dr. Conrad is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Associate (AVMA), Alabama Veterinary Medical Associate (AAVMA), and South Carolina Association of Veterinarians (SCAV).

Carly lives in Charleston with her husband, their 2 dogs, Clementine and Jules, and their 5 cats.  In her free time, she enjoys long distance running, hiking/backpacking, and aerial dance (static trapeze).
